A stunning original antique French Rococo boudoir clock set by Louis Japy. Of beautifully small and delicate proportions in gilt bronze, it is of asymmetrical waisted keyhole shape, decorated with scrolling foliage, 'C' scrolls and acanthus. To the top is an elaborate foliate finial with a floral swag. The two light candelabrum are similarly designed with scrolling branches of acanthus, pieced bases and drip trays and a Rococo flourish to the centre. The size and depth make this set ideal for a mantle shelf.

The beautiful dial is cream enamel on copper with black lettering and separate outside minute ring. The delicately fretted gilt brass hands are original.

The French movement is of high quality and has the Louis Japy mark on the backplate and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition, just some light chips around the winding holes. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
