Handsome Antique English Sterling Silver Cylindrical Dressing Table Box

Description

A wonderful example of a Victorian sterling silver box in a cylindrical form, these are the most perfect boxes for Q-Tips or the circular cotton pads, if you wanted to put this piece to work that is; or simply sit back and enjoy it's beauty.

The top is particularly interesting with an all-over repousse or embossed decoration, the lid having a central vacant cartouche.

The lid fits perfectly and when removed reveals a rather grand and luxurious gilded interior.

Both base and lid are hallmarked for Birmingham 1895, together with the maker's initials H.M for the silversmith, Henry Matthews.

A super highly decorative box measuring 3" tall with a maximum lid diameter measuring 3". Weight: 108 Grams/ 3.47 Troy Ounces
