Gents 1916 Silver Half Hunter Trench Watch

A 1916 gents silver half hunter trench watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement, with 15 jewels, which has been tested and is working nicely, and keeping good time to around five minutes over 24 hours.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The watch has a screw-on case back, which is a good sign of quality, and it is hallmarked inside for London (import mark), 1916. There is also a Brevet (patent) number which relates to a 1915 patent relating to the design of the case, the inventor was Charles Zurbruegg. The case is in very nice condition for such an early piece and the blue enamel Roman numerals on the front are a very handsome feature. There is a small amount of enamel loss but it is barely visible to the naked eye.

There is a button between the bottom lugs which presses in to release the front cover. Inside there is a white enamel dial which is in good condition. There is some nibbling to the very edge of the dial, between 10 and 11.

A later black leather strap has been fitted.
