Christian Davies Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The frieze with a similar smaller central roundel. The rectangular glazed door opens to reveal a velvet lined shelved interior with glazed sides and a mirrored back. The whole in purple heart with satinwood banding and green stained sycamore and boxwood line inlaid detail, with figural ormolu mounts. The lower section with a rectangular sevres plaque in the frieze above a rectangular raised panelled door centred by an exquisite oval sevres plaque depicting a gentleman serenading a maiden within a ribbon and swag ormolu mount. The door opens to reveal a velvet lined and shelved interior again the cabinet constructed using purple heart, satinwood banding and with extensive ormolu mounts and mouldings. The locks are stamped VR indicating that this is an English cabinet in the French style, during restoration a date of 1876 was found on a label on the reverse of the mirror plate. English circa 1876

Condition: This cabinet has been restored, re-lined and re-polished in our workshops.
