Antique Black Forest Figural Table Vesta - Dog C.1890

Description

A wonderfully charming late Victorian table vesta, hand-carved in the Black Forest region of Switzerland.

This wonderful canine is lucky enough to retain both his original glass eyes. Once opened the textured strike is found on the underside of the lid; non-safety matches would have been stored within the box.

Wonderful condition (I have shown a shallow grain hairline on the underside purely for accuracy - Insignificant) dating to around 1890. 3 3/8" x 3" x 3 1/4" tall.
