Georgian Mahogany Bachelor’s Chest C.1760.

Description

Beautifully proportioned little 18th.c. mahogany bachelor's chest of four graduated drawers c.1760. Hand sawn 1/8" (and thicker) mahogany veneers of superb colour and grain on softwood carcass. Crisp thumb mouldings to the top and plinth, canted corners with unusual herringbone inlays. Original bracket feet front and rear. Oak drawer linings and groundwork to the drawer fronts. Original bone escutcheons, later handles. With typical wear and an earlier repair to the rear left hand corner of the top, otherwise excellent condition.
