Antique Minerva Half Hunter Pocket Watch

An antique Minerva half hunter pocket watch.

Minerva was founded in 1858 by Charles-Yvan and Hyppolite Robert. The company was a small manufacturer which produced its own in-house movements. The Minerva factory still exists today although they do not sell watches under that name… they design and manufacture movements for Montblanc.

This particular watch has a good quality stem-winding movement, 17 jewels, 4 adjustments, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is gold filled and was originally guaranteed to wear ten years although this case has stood the test of time successfully and the condition is very good.

The small front lens is surrounded by Roman numerals in a very handsome blue.

The winding crown pushes down to release the front cover. Inside, the larger lens is in lovely condition, as is the white enamel dial. There is a short hairline crack between 4 and 5 but other than that, the dial is in very nice condition.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
