Description

Fabulous Edwardian era Arts & Crafts wardrobe by the celebrated English cabinet makers Shapland & Petter of Barnstable c.1905. Full length hanging space behind mirror doors either side of a centre cupboard, display recess and two small drawers. With two further large drawers in the base. Extravagantly flared overhanging cornice and exceptional Art Nouveau pattern inlaid marquetry door panel with stylized flower heads entwined around a central heart motif – a typical Shapland & Petter touch. The hearts are repeated in the copper plated strap hinges, keyhole escutcheons and handles all of which are original. Excellent quality in solid quarter cut English oak, again typical for the maker. Original locks throughout, each clearly stamped S&P B. Original bevelled mirror plates with only minor shadowing. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Keys supplied.

Dimensions: width 72", depth 19", height 82½".
