Description

Fabulous large English majolica centrepiece on a gorgeous deep teal blue ground with buff and cream ground applied decoration of a pair of harpies as figureheads at either end and mythical creature masks in the centre of each side. Lots of ornate detailing of swagged garlands with gatherings of fruit and small putti faces with headdresses to the base. Gilded highlights all over and with a pale turquoise ground to the bowl.

It measures 15" long, 9 1/2" wide and 10 3/4" high. Condition is very good with no body damage; a few small glaze frits as is common with these glazes and some light surface marks inside the bowl. Unmarked but a high quality piece.
