Description

A superb quality walnut Early Victorian Period antique Canterbury. With three magazine/newspaper divisions, the front and back divisions having wonderful pierced fretwork panels and finely carved acanthus detail. The rectangular mahogany lined frieze drawer having a figured walnut front and twin turned walnut drawer pulls. Supported on beautiful octagonal faceted feet retaining their original Copes patent castors. English circa 1860. The quality of this Canterbury and the fact that Copes castors were used points towards one of the premier cabinet makers of this period like Gillows of Lancaster, although not marked.
