Antique Rocco Moretti, Cardiff, Fusee Pocket Watch

Description

An antique Rocco Moretti of Cardiff silver fusee pocket watch.

The watch has a fusee movement which is working nicely. A winding key is included. The movement is signed R Moretti, Cardiff and it is protected by a fitted inner dust cover. The movement hinges out of the front of the case.

The watch itself measures 48mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks for London 1872 with a maker’s mark for Joseph Oliver, a London based silversmith. The hallmark ties in nicely with the date that Moretti produced watches, 1865 to 1887. The case is in good condition. The inner cover has scratches where the key has slipped during winding.

The plastic lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has a short hairline crack beneath the subsidiary seconds dial but otherwise is in lovely condition.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
