The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, grade 621.
The watch was specially made for Prestons Ltd, a retailer based in Bolton, Lancashire. The movement is fully signed and it also has the serial number 22,323,857 which confirms the date as 1918. The movement has an unusual mix of nickel damascened plates with partial gilding. The movement has been fully tested and is working nicely. It is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated Star model by Dennison. The outside of the case is in very nice condition with just the odd minor mark. There are scratches to the inside of the front cover. The winding crown pushes down to release the front cover.

The plastic lens is in good condition.
The white enamel dial is signed with the Preston Ltd and Waltham USA names. The dial is in beautiful condition with just one short hairline crack beneath the subsidiary seconds dial.
The watch comes with an antique presentation box. The inside is rather faded but still nice to have.
