Description

A wonderful games box made from Rosewood and the lighter coloured squares to the top are in a Fruitwood. The top of course is a Chess or Checkers Board with a drawer below containing the games.

The box comes complete with the Boxwood and Ebony Staunton style chess set and a checkers set in Ebony and Boxwood.

The games box dates to around 1880, Victorian in era; the chess set and checkers perhaps a little later, around 1900. A wonderful complete set ready for hours of fun. The box measures 13 1/2" square, each games square inlaid to the top measuring 1 1/2" square; each King standing 3 3/4" tall.
