Georgian Regency Longcase Clock Hatton, London

Description

A fine quality London Regency period mahogany longcase clock. Slim, small proportions to the case. Choice flame mahogany veneers to the arched trunk door with moulded edging. An arched hood pediment surmounted by two original brass finials. Brass capped fluted hood columns and rear quarters. Fine fretwork panels to the hood side. A circular dial with date and seconds indicators. Blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. A quality feature often seen on London clocks of brass cased weights and a flat rod brass pendulum.

Joseph Hatton of London is recorded in Bailies' Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1785-1830.
