Longcase Cclock Moon Phase Kimich of Bath

19th century
Description

A Bath moon-phase longcase clock of good proportions. An oak case with mahogany crossbanding and chequered band inlay. A swan-neck hood pediment with central brass finial. Brass capped fluted columns and chamfered trunk sides. A 12" arched painted dial with very attractive floral corner decorations. A date aperture and seconds dial. Lunar moon phases to the arch. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

Barnard Kimich and his partner, Flaig were working at London Terrace in Bath and moved to Somerset Buildings in 1845. There is an old advert illustrated in Whites' 'Watch and Clockmakers of Bath' book by the maker.
