Antique Armchair, Upholstered Arm Chair, Victorian Walnut, English, c.1880

This is an antique walnut and velour armchair dating to c.1880.

Framed in English walnut with desirable colour and patina, the ring turned front legs and swept rear legs are raised on the original ceramic castors.

The bowed seat rail is detailed with reeding that continues along the side rails and is mirrored in the sinuously curved seat back stiles. Ring turned arm supports complete the frame which is solid and sturdy.

Strongly sprung, the seat is traditionally stuffed beneath a golden velour fabric in good condition, finished with a button back and matching golden brocade trim. The padded and shaped head rest adding to the comfort. The finished 'show' back completes this delightful chair.
