Christian Davies Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The doors having stunning marquetry and pen-work inlaid panels depicting birds resting, opening to reveal four mahogany sliding trays, flanked by two rectangular mahogany and rosewood panelled doors again with the finest floral marquetry inlaid detail. These doors open to reveal brass hanging rails and an internal octagonal shaped bevelled mirror. The base again of inverted breakfront form and having three rectangular mahogany lined drawers with unusual aesthetic period brass handles. The ends also with fine quality marquetry inlaid panels showing the quality and craftsmanship of this wardrobe. Although un-marked this wardrobe made in the aesthetic period bears similarities to furniture of the Period by two Companies, one being Morris & Co, the other Marsh, Jones & Cribb based in Leeds. English Circa 1880
