Superb Gillows 18th Century Mahogany Linen Press

Description

A rare early Mahogany Linen Press by renowned makers Gillows of Lancaster & London, circa 1760. The piece is in the most superb original condition, retaining all the original fittings, including the brass lacquered swan neck handles, locks, key and escutcheons. The timber used throughout is of the most exceptional quality with wonderful flamed doors, the whole raised on swollen ogee feet. The press fully oak lined drawers and slides all in perfect working condition. Outstanding colour, patina and richness throughout.

Dimensions: Height: 71 1/2 Inches - 181.5 cm, Width: 49 Inches - 124.5cm, Depth: 23 Inches - 58.5 cm

*Gillows of Lancaster & London was one of the most prestigious furniture makers in England throughout the 18th and 19th century, importing and working with only the finest quality timbers and craftsman.

Pieces of Gillows furniture can now be seen in museums in London and Leeds as well as a collection in the Gillows Museum in Lancaster and Tatton Park.
