London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
This is an antique mule chest dating to c1750.

A fine example of it's type, this English oak chest displays a fabulously aged patina and is raised on bracket feet with twin lower drawers beneath five faux drawers, each dressed with bat wing plate swan neck handles.

The three plank top with huge interest shows medullary rays and can either be lifted off or raised on the traditional cleated hinges to rest on the candle box lid and separate strut. Internally the capacious interior is in good order with hand chamfered corners and offers plenty of storage.

Superb quality and a stunning piece presented in good antique condition. Solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed & polished ready for the home.
