Description

Pretty Grainger & Co. spherical vase by Alfred Barry in a cream ground with finely reticulated upper half and lovely angular side handles on the shoulders which are also pierced on all sides and have a plaited texture on the side edge. Decorated with strings of turquoise jewelled beads and gilded decoration. Stamped and impressed mark for c.1870-1889 and model number 1/1014.

It measures 14cm (5 1/2") high and 15.3cm (6") wide. Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration. A few of the blue beads are missing, otherwise minimal surface wear and the gilding is very good. It would have had a small cover originally but there are no signs of wear to this inner rim and it displays beautifully as it is.
