Description

Gorgeous, unusual Russian silver egg shape coin purse with green silk concertina interior. Pretty chased decoration to one side of art nouveau twisting flower stems. Hallmarked to both sides for Moscow 1899-1908 and assay mark for Vasily Kangin (also marked inside).

It is the same size as an actual egg measuring 7cm long by 4.5cm wide. It weighs 71g/2.5oz/2.3ozt. Condition is very good: the silver is excellent. The green silk has 2 small tears where it joins the edge but otherwise is very good. The opening mechanism has come a little loose so the push button sometimes drops in very slightly allowing the purse to open more easily than it should. This is intermittent but just keep an eye on it if you were to use the purse as intended.
