Description

Fabulous late 18th century George III copper cauldron/stockpot with brass fittings and cast iron bale handle. Probably French, c.1780, it is made with brazed dovetailed seams to the base and side, very well executed, a good quality piece that has withstood the test of time very well. Perfect for use as a log or coal bin, as it has been for many years, or being appreciated on display back in the kitchen.

It measures 45cm by 40cm wide and 34cm high excluding handle, 50cm high with. Condition is very good: whilst there are clear surface pits, there are no holes, splits, dents or weak points and it been polished up very well to give a good finish. The pitting is even all over and gives a lovely charm to the piece, telling stories about its c.250 year history.
