Exemplary Queen Anne Walnut Dressing Table C. 1710

Description

A very fine quality Queen walnut dressing table.

Oak carcase and original oak lined segmented drawers made c. 1710. Exceptionally thick walnut across the whole piece in excellent condition and complete and original with minor shrinkage to the top consistent with age.

The moulded top with notched corners and feather crossbanded borders. the frieze fitted with six drawers with featherbanding and brass drop handles with snape fasteners. The cabriole legs carved with acanthus leaf and scrolled hocks terminating in pad feet.

Very beautiful and elegant English dressing table of lovely proportions in exemplary condition. Some earlier handle marks, usual and not significant. The drawer frames lipped with convex crossbanded beading.

A separate toilet mirror would have been placed on the table when used as a dressing table and when the mirror was not needed, the table would have been used as a writing or side table.

In superb original condition - with truly excellent patination and well developed colour. This dressing table is a very fine collector's piece and would retail in a London dealership for more than £6,000.

Dimensions are: 30 inches high, 44 inches wide and 23 inches deep. From floor to lowest edge of frieze is 15 inches. The internal height of the frieze drawers is 2.75 inches, of the flanking drawers if 5 inches, of the central and lowest drawers is c. 2 inches.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
