Description

Charming early Staffordshire pearlware figure of a recumbent deer lying on a mound with a simple bocage at the back. The open, hollow base has incised decoration of flowers and foliage with some blue ribbon bands around the base. The bocage has similar incised detailing with simple applied flowers. Dating from c.1820.

It measures 12cm (4 5/8") high, 10cm (4") wide and 5cm (2") deep. Condition is very good: a small section of the bocage has been lost and a couple of small glaze losses to the base and tip of his nose.
