This fabulous Afshar rug is amazingly finely knotted. The work is incredible when you think it was made under nomadic conditions during the 19th century. This is the finest work from Afshar nomads indicating that the weaver was undoubtedly the best in the tribe - a highly desirable catch as a wife - and this rug would probably be part of her dowry - never to be sold!
