Description

Possibly the finest slide and microscope cabinet on the market today! This beautiful cabinet encompasses both 72 drawers capable of housing approximately 2600 slides, but also, in the centre section, a microscope compartment.

Below are three drawers, cleverly built in as a plinth, to house more equipment, books and instruments.

I believe this cabinet to be unique and built for mr fred dishley, a luminary of the manchester microscopy society. He joined the society in 1906 and by 1909 was elected to the position of honourable secretary. In 1916 he became vice-president. Slide mounting was his speciality. The cabinet is fully provenanced to him.

The cabinet and all it's constituents are in exceptionally fine condition and could be used for it's original purpose or some other collecting pursuit admirably. All the knobs are present, the drawers run smoothly and the locks and keys all function well.

Positioned on a work surface or sideboard ideal.
