London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
1860.
Striking in form and scale and beautifully constructed and carved in beech with a blond finish, this cupboard conceals an adjustable pine and dowel shelving system for a variety of uses: press cupboard, wardrobe, larder, bookcase.

Raised on a moulded plinth base, the six field panel front features stop ended detail with beautifully carved geometric frames around central domed cartouches; the outside pair containing inter-woven initials 'CL' & 'ML'; the left end panel featuring a '1' in similar style.

Triple brass 'H' hinges are fitted to the doors which close with an exposed, tactile, brass twist catch. Above, the crown moulding is a delight with deep dentil moulding above decorative geometric bracketing.

Extremely solid, this piece will dismantle by means of a series of sturdy bolts for transportation and access.
A fabulous panelled cupboard, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
