London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
This is an English, antique, George III bureau in mahogany dating from cC1780

Standing atop ogee bracket feet, five graduated, dove tailed, oak lined drawers are arranged in a ‘two over three’ configuration dressed with brass swan neck handles and brass lock escutcheons. Both the drawers and fall lock with the original key.

Sliding out the lopers and opening the fall reveals a symmetrical interior around a central cupboard door decorated with a conche motif. The cupboard has secret compartments to the top and sides. Flanking the central door, a pair of reeded pillars, complete with brass floral capitols, slide outwards concealing further hidden document pouches. Further triple cubbies either side are topped with a swagged drawer with three further drawers beneath in two over one configurations.

Superb quality and a stunning piece presented in excellent antique condition. Solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed & polished.
