London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
This is an antique French breakfront bookcase dating to c.1880.
At 8ft tall and 9ft wide this is a very substantial piece of furniture in superb condition. The French oak displays warm honey hues and the deep wax finish shows good patina.

Raised on a moulded plinth the lower four cupboards feature shaped, field panel doors and enclose a fixed height, removable shelf. Between the central doors and the counter a slide pulls out providing a convenient work space. Above the counter, the upper door's shaped panels are beautifully finished in a sturdy wire and enclose a series of adjustable shelves. The large crown moulding bringing balance to the proportions.

Finishing the piece, the pin hinges, brass escutcheons, locks and keys delicately dress and enhance the look of this fabulous cabinet.
