The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The chain measures 35cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.
The clasp is 1898 hallmarked for London with a maker’s or importer’s mark for Claude Ernest Collins. The chain has graduated links with the largest being 1cm wide. The links are also hallmarked although some have rubbed over the years. The same CEC maker’s mark is on one of the central links. The marks on the clasp are rubbed.
The chain comes with a sizeable silver fob which was awarded in 1933 for a tennis competition.
The fob measures 32mm diameter and is hallmarked for Birmingham 1933.
