The Fancy Fox has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
One set appear to be painting pictures and the other maybe playing musical instruments. Raised gilding frames all the scenes. One is incised lightly to the base with what I think are the initials GG and also S8GG or something similar.

They measure 11 1/2" high and 9 1/2" wide across the handles. They weigh over 2kg each. Condition is very good: There is an old filled split inside the rim of one which looks original, and a sort of small plug inserted in a hole in the base of the other. A little bit of flaking to the raised gilding and some light wear to the ormolu.
