Large Antique English Brass and Mother of Pearl Magnifying Glass

Description

Dating to around 1900 / 1910, this is a fabulous all-original magnifying glass made from solid English brass, very heavy and solid and would enhance any desk-top. The well constructed handle with a screwed construction joining it to the magnifier frame, is finished with quality Mother of Pearl shell with its attractive iridescent qualities. The Mother of Pearl shell continues all around the brass framed lens.

The brass was extremely dirty when I purchased it, it has just arrived back from my restorer where it has been professionally polished to gleam. The original magnifier is extremely strong, a very usable piece, as useful as handsome. The lens has remained in excellent condition with one minor internal imperfection and feint surface wear, all insignificant but mentioned for accuracy. Excellent condition, measuring an impressive 9" in length with a magnifier having a diameter measuring 4".
