Striking example of British modernist industrial design here in the form of the super stylish floorstanding Murphy 146 by the celebrated furniture designer Gordon Russell c.1935. Following the Modernist ethos ‘form follows function’ the whole is cabinet shaped as to project the sound from the centrally located speaker with the additional advantage that it could fit easily into the corner of a room, taking up much less space than the traditional radiogrammes, whilst the walnut finish meant it could sit harmoniously within a domestic interior. Excellent condition with original knobs and dial plate. Electrics are working but untested. The cabinet has been cleaned and polished in our workshops.
