Description

C19th mid-Victorian period figured and burr walnut library 'drum' table. Fitted with 4 opposing mahogany-lined frieze drawers all retaining original turned knob pulls ,and mounted upon a carved baluster vase column base with 3-splay carved cabriole leg supports fitted with concealed original brass castors. Thumb-moulded edge top fitted with a quality replacement hand-tooled gilt and 'blind'-tooled burgundy/claret leather insert with sympathetically aged surface. The rich burgundy leather centre with gilded band of outer classically-inspired motifs, an inner gold Iine and large central 'blind' motif , provides an arresting combination and contrast with the beautifully figured walnut veneered border.

The quality walnut veneers are of highly-figured and burr grain , whilst the base is carved from solid walnut .

A robustly constructed table on which top quality materials have been employed.

This table has been fully re-polished and refurbished in the traditional manner in our workshops.

A great hall ,library or centre table in ready-to-use condition.
