A Large Impressive Regency Giltwood Convex Mirror

19th century
Description

A large and particularly impressive Regency period CONVEX MIRROR in splendid original condition.

The carved and ebonised eagle surmount, stands on its gilded plinth which is flanked by a pair of wonderfully 'grotesque' carved and gilded mythical fish. To either side are pairs of gilt candle-holders, one pair of which has glass drip-pans and droplets, whilst below is a good carved and gilded acanthus leaf collar.

The convex mirror itself is set within an inner slip frame and its main outer deeply convex frame with close-ball decoration. A gorgeous mirror! Dimensions (maximum): Height: 48ins Width: 38ins (122 x 96.5cms)
