A stunning and large original antique French ormolu (gilded bronze) clock set featuring dolphins. It is of the most beautiful Rococo style, asymmetric waisted case decorated with 'C' scrolls, acanthus leaves and floral swags. To the top is a large elaborate urn with acanthus handles and floral finial. The dolphin sits in a shell motif sculptured into the base and is a most unusual and attractive feature. Candelabra are of matching with twirling acanthus arms and dolphins to niches below. This is a stunning, large clock set with a superb original gild.

The beautiful, large enamel dial is lettered with separate minute and hour rings and is complete with the original finely cut gilt brass hands. The heavy Rococo bezel is fitted with convex glass.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled and tested by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The urns leans forward slight as part of the design. Candelabra are slightly distorted. The dial is also in excellent condition just some faint hairlines. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.
