A Rare Set of 10 Oak Arts & Crafts Period Antique Dining Chairs

1900 - 1920
Description

A Rare set of 10 oak Arts & Crafts Period antique dining chairs by Shapland & Petter Of Barnstaple, including two carver armchairs. Each chair with a finely carved top rail having Art Nouveau influence and with trailing tendrils, a rectangular padded support and heart shaped horizontal back splats. The drop in seats and rectangular padded backs are newly re-upholstered in a grey velvet. Supported on typical Shapland and Petter designed square tapering supports with H stretchers, each stamped (RD 439436) and also stamped "2281" which was the original Shapland & Petter design number. The two armchairs are of slightly larger proportions and have open arms with padded armrests. English circa 1900-1910

Dimensions: Armchairs 48" high x 24" wide x 18" deep Stand chairs 44" high x 18" wide x 16" deep (seat heights 18")

Condition: This pair of chairs are in excellent original condition, cleaned and waxed. Newly re-upholstered in our workshops in a grey velvet.
