Description
Clocks by the famous black forest company of Lenzkirch are sought after by collectors but it is very rare to find a clock of such a small size.It is model number 51 and would date from the last half of the 19th century. I have been fortunate to have owned some fabulous clocks over the years but as they have come and gone I have always been particulary fond of this item.I realise that it is more expensive that lesser models (It was when I bought it too !) but the quality and rareity make it worth every penny I have owned this particular clock for over 25 years and I have only seen one other example of this design (which was in very poor condition) .Although average spring driven Vienna style wall clocks are in plentiful supply it is very rare indeed to find one of this quality. In fact,I believe that exceptional spring driven clacks are probably the most difficult Vienna clocks to find and I doubt that you will see another. The walnut case is of a beautiful design being decorated with fine carvings .The case is veneered in the most wonderful burr walnut and has a fabulous colour, finish and patina. The clock has simply been sympathetically cleaned and waxed which has retained all the original finish. The 8 day duration timepiece movement is of the finest quality having solid plates and pinions with dead beat escapement. It is numbered by the maker but unsigned as many earlier clocks were but if this clock is not a Lenzkirch you can have it free of charge!!!.. There are plenty of images to accurately show the item but I am happy to provide further pictures to interested parties. This clock is totally genuine and original and I offer a full money back guarantee to this end. The overall condition is outstanding and requires no restoration. It is working perfectly although the movement is superficially a little dirty. The only area worth comment is that the dial has a couple of the faintest of hair line cracks in the centre dial which cannot be seen from 2 feet. It will be very difficult to replace a clock of this size and in this condition. The clock is a maximum of 29 inches tall,11 1/2 inches at its widest point, the dial is 6 inches. The clock will be personally delivered and set up and 12 months guarantee provided free of charge if the buy it now price is paid in full (English mainland,Wales and Scottish lowlands). If the asking price is paid in full I will service the movement, deliver and set up the clock free of charge in England,Wales and the Scottish Lowlands.A 12 month guarantee will be provided in those circumstances. If a lesser offer is accepted then it will be treated as a trade sale with the clock sold as described and shipping the responsibility of the buyer. My contact details are at the bottom of my listings should a prospective buyer wish to contact me directly. Viewing is very welcome.
