Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1910s.

The top of the hinged lid is quite wonderful with engine turned and intricate engraved decoration surrounding a central vacant cartouche. The inside of the lid retains it's original lavish gilded finish. The box also retains it's original deep purple silk lining still in superb condition.

The box has the full English hallmark for Birmingham 1913 together with the makers mark for the silversmith, W & F Rabone - Walter Hayes Rabone & Frank Rabone. A beautiful box ready to use.
