A Gents 1901 Silver Iwc Trench Watch, Cal 63

A gents 1901 silver IWC trench watch.

The watch has a 63 Lépine hand-winding movement. All early IWC wrist watches either had the calibre 63 Lépine or calibre 64 Savonnette movement. They first appeared in the IWC movement and parts catalogue in around 1891-92. The movement has the Stauffer mark and also the Peerless name, together with the serial number 246586 which dates it back to 1901. The movement is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is protected by an inner cover.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are Swiss silver marks inside the hinged case back. The back of the watch has a little unevenness but overall the condition is very good for such an early piece.

The watch glass has a little marking but is very acceptable.

The white enamel dial is in good condition. It has blued steel hands (pin-set) and an outer minute track.
