French "Boulle" Jewellery Casket or Box

Description

A very pretty and good quality early/mid 19th century French boulle JEWELLERY CASKET in excellent condition and complete with original working key.

This brass and mother-of-pearl inlaid tortoiseshell jewellery box is well mounted with ormolu decoration and ormolu feet. The front opens to reveal an interior of silk-lined hinged 'drawers' which swing outwards to access the contents and a larger compartment can be found within in the base. A lovely and unusual jewellery box.
