Description

Pair antique cast silver shell salts; truly wonderful quality, in Regency Rococo Revival manner. Of outstanding weight, these scallop shells are on fine openwork naturalistic pedestal bases; the marine subject is typical of the style. These are so decorative and sizeable that they would also make superb sweet dishes. Highly regarded makers, and as ever, the Chester hallmark only adds to the interest.

Of further interest; a similar pair of exactly the same dimensions and weight, but dated 1853, fetched £1200 in a Bonhams sale in 2009. We feel that this indicates the wonderful value of this particular pair.
