Atropos Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The cabinet is built with highly figured 'pitch pine' much favoured by fashionable victorians of the day. This timber is both beautiful and very stable. Over the last forty years I have handled four or five of this design. The door has the classic 'trefoil' moulding to the top which as far as I have seen is unique to j.t.crockett.

The twenty drawers run smoothly and are carried upon hidden bearer runners. Each drawer has a closely fitted glazed frame to protect and display the contents.all drawers are fitted with the original, 'trade mark', ebonised knobs favoured by crockett whether used as an insect cabinet or for a host of other collectables the items within will be beautifully displayed. The drawers are base lined with cork and papered over. Re-papering will be carried out to the customers satisfaction if required.

Altogether an interesting and exciting collectors cabinet with first class provenance.
