Regency Mother-of-pearl Inlaid Tortoiseshell Caddy

Description

An unusual Regency period tortoiseshell TEA CADDY in good condition.

The top is profusely inlaid with Mother-of-Pearl flowers, leaves and berries, surrounded by a border of ivory, whilst the concave 'body' features an ivory escutcheon and is supported on pretty ivory ball feet. The lid opens to reveal the original velvet lined interior, and two tortoiseshell-veneered inner compartments with most of the original lead lining intact.

A good caddy, in excellent original order.
