Large French "Anglaise" Carriage Clock

Description

A handsome late 19th century French striking and repeating CARRIAGE CLOCK of large size in full working order.

The "Anglaise" case (so-named because the French believed it would appeal to the English, their main customers) features a shaped handle; beaded decoration to top and bottom, and a plinth base with bevelled glass panels to all sides.

The eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a gong, repeating hours at will, with the original platform lever escapement and separate alarm train. Good "masked" enamel dials. Guaranteed for at least two years.
