Antique Silver Waltham Pocket Watch and Chain

An antique silver Waltham open faced pocket watch with silver chain.

The watch has a Grade 820 stem-winding movement has a good strong tick and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The signed movement has the serial number 21,596,419 which dates it back to 1917. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 54mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. It has a heavy silver case which is hallmarked inside both of the back covers for Birmingham 1921 with a maker’s mark for the English watch case maker Aaron Dennison. Movements were imported from Waltham in the US to be cased and subsequently retailed within the UK. The case is in in good condition and has engine turned detail and a vacant cartouche to the centre.

The watch has a glass lens … there is a little nibbling to the bevelled edge but nothing serious.

The signed enamel dial is in super condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a good silver albert, hallmarked for 1919. Each of the graduated links has the lion passant silver mark. The silver fob is later in date.
