Description

A magnificent Sheraton jewellery box of octagonal form made from Amboyna with a delicate inlaid marquetry laurel border. The box retains the original swing handles to either side. Once opened the fitted interior is revealed. It has been professionally re-lined to create a very usable interior with a fresh finish incorporating two original little wooden boxes with sliding lids, a ring bank running in between to accommodate around six rings and a removable tray.

The paper lining is original and has been retained and has the original London makers label to the inside of the lid - Godwin, Jeweller - Pocket-book -maker to his Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, No. 161 Strand.

Ready to serve for the next two hundred years, this heirloom example remains in excellent condition. 10 1/4" across x 6 1/2" tall.
