Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The top and the front are the show-stopper, with the finest and most intricate floral and foliate bouquets created from cut brass and Ivory, all engraved and inked to create a three dimensional vignette.
The box has a top section when the lid is opened and the benefit of another drawer below, both have working locks and the key works both of them.
The interior has been professionally re-lined in a hand-marbled paper.
Excellent condition, measuring 11 3/4" x 8" x 4 1/2" tall.
