A 1910s Silver Swiss Pocket Watch

A 1910s silver Swiss pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is protected by an inner hinged dust cover.

The watch measures 46mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for London (import mark), 1918 with an importer’s mark for George Stockwell … from 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The back of the watch has engine turned detail and a vacant cartouche to the centre. There are a couple of small indentations to the back but overall the condition is good for such an early piece.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The dial is in good condition too and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
