Description

18th Century French Carved Oak Coffer

This is a lovely carved piece, with a superb patina, the chest has a large carved panel on the front, depicting many mythical characters

We have a brave knight, a fire breathing bull and hanging from the trees there are a dragon and a wolf, the panel is flanked on either side by a guarding Caryatid soldier

This is a small piece and ideal where space is a problem, the carvings are all old and date from the 18th Century, though much of the structure of the coffer is 19th Century

The coffer is 34” long, 19” deep and 23” high
